Having developed for and hacked Apple’s mobile ecosystem for years, Pod2g is a significant member of the Evad3rs team responsible for the big Evasi0n jailbreak of iOS 6. And after using iOS 7 for few days, our dear Pod2g reveals to say goodbye to iOS!
A pivotal member of the scene, he’s never been a fan of iOS’s closed-source nature, but thanks to iOS 7, a release he describes as Apple’s "worst move" for a long time, he may now even be considering a switch to Android:
"After a few days of iOS 7 beta 1 testing, I must admit that I am about to switch to an Android device."
This is a very big statement from somebody so renowned for working with iOS, but his rant did not conclude at promises to jump ship. Elaborating on his reasoning behind the disdain for iOS 7, he tweeted:
"iOS 7 design is awful, it’s slow, battery life time is the worst ever, it’s full of UI bugs and crashes."
Pod2g tweets about his thoughts on iOS 7, switch to Android.
While he did acknowledge that, since it’s a beta 1 release, these kinds of issues are perhaps to be expected, he’s still far from impressed with what Apple has come up with in its follow up to the PR nightmare that was iOS 6. As well facing heavy criticism for what many saw as underwhelming new features, the iOS 6 Maps app forced Tim Cook into a public apology, and with several security issues forcing swift updates around the time of the Evasi0n jailbreak, the pressure was certainly on Apple to deliver the goods.
Luckily, currently hackers have already got some exploits in hand to jailbreak iOS 7. We hope they won't give up jailbreak anyway, and we cross over fingers to see news about jailbreak soon.
