Official Samsung unveils new Galaxy Alpha

Samsung today took the wraps off a new smartphone for its Galaxy line called the ‘Galaxy Alpha.’ The company says the handset encapsulates its new design approach, featuring a “carefully constructed” compact body with a metal frame and a solid finish.
In terms of specs, there isn’t anything too crazy under the hood. The Alpha sports a 4.7” HD Super AMOLED display, an octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 12MP rear camera. There’s also a fingerprint scanner on board, and a host of other sensors…
alpha 2
Here’s a rundown of the hardware: 4.7” HD Super AMOLED (1280 x 720), Octa Core (Quad 1.8GHz + Quad 1.3GHz) processor, 12MP (rear) and 2.1MP (front) cameras, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory (no SD card slot), and an 1,860 mAh battery.
The really story here is the Alpha’s all-new metal design, which some folks are saying teeters dangerously close to that of Apple’s iPhone 5/5s. The two firms have gone to court over design infringement before, although they did recently call a semi-truce.
Here’s what Samsung has to say about the new look:
Concentrating on elegant aesthetics and compact construction, Samsung has taken a fresh approach to design with the Galaxy Alpha. Created to help consumers express their unique style without sacrificing functionality, the refined Galaxy Alpha features a sophisticated design with a metal frame, elegantly curved corners and a tactile soft back cover. In addition, it is visually balanced, with the perfect contrast of both a calming, soft matte finish and an eye-catching reflection from the metal frame. At less than 7 mm thick, the Galaxy Alpha is also one of the slimmest Galaxy devices ever, and its uniquely compact construction and light weight provides consumers with maximum in-hand grip and control.
And here’s the official introduction video ‘Just Alpha’
The timing of this device is also interesting. Samsung says that the Alpha will go on sale in early September, which is right around the time Apple is expected to announce its iPhone 6, and around the same time that Samsung is believed to unveil its Note 4.
Unfortunately, there’s not much information at this time in terms of availability. Samsung hasn’t named any carrier partners for the Alpha yet, and there’s no word on pricing. We do, however, know it will come in black, white, gold, silver and blue colorways.

Toturial : How to root Galaxy Note 3 Verizon

Earlier this month we informed you that there was a way to root the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, but method was limited to only some models.
Now with the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3, there comes a way to allow you to easily root the device. Though there isn't way yet to install a custom recovery, such as TWRP or CWM yet, though we're sure this is in the works.

You'll first need to install the newest Samsung Drivers (1.5.27.0) for your PC, which you can get from here.

Once the drivers are installed, reboot your PC.

The following instructions for rooting the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 are provided by "designgears" from XDA Forums.
You need to follow the instructions exactly, and remember, use at your own risk!
This process will also wipe your phone, so any apps and settings will have to be reinstalled after the process is finished.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Close to be Update Android 4.3

According to a tweet sent on Sunday, the long-awaited Android 4.3 update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 is just one to two weeks away. At the beginning of this month, we passed along a video showing some of the features on the update. As we told you, Samsung Wallet is a default app on Android 4.3 and secure business application Samsung KNOX is also included. Android 4.3 also brings better color reproduction and text looks sharper on the screen.
Software build I9505XXUEMJ3 is the latest version of Android 4.3 to leak for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and is said to be pretty much the final version of the update for that particular phone. Those who have tested the new build say that there are no major changes compared to the previous one, just some minor tweaks here and there.
The update is for the unlocked European version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 (GT-i9505) and while you can visit the sourcelink and download the update, remember that it is not finished. The usual caveats apply here about possibly bricking your phone and losing your warranty. With the official rollout expected to begin soon, why not just wait?

Despite the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 ranked among the biggest product launches in the mobile space this year, with all that's been going on, Sammy's phablet has been pretty much forced into the back of our minds. As you can guess, that's a marketing division's worst nightmare, so it does make sense that the media should start drumming about it once again. Fortunately for all involved, in this particular case we don't mind at all.
Why don't we mind? Well, it's because of a new rumor that has shot the Galaxy Note 3 right at the top of our consciousness once again – a limited edition Galaxy Note 3 with a flexible display may finally find the key out of science fiction aficionados' imagination and become reality as soon as next month!
Sure, this certainly isn't the first time we hear about the tech, and Samsung's involvement in it. There was even a pretty persistent theory back in the days before the Note 3's unveiling, claiming that the phone will come in three variants. Those included the Note 3 that we know, a lower cost LCD variant of it, and a special edition with a flexible display. Whether you're a believer in the aforementioned theory or not is entirely up to you, as at this point – it really feels like it can go either way

Every time Samsung drops a new flagship smartphone, the company seems to go that extra mile in ensuring that it packs some dazzling new features to entice the consumer market once more. In the case of the latest and greatest Galaxy S4, the South Korean outfit introduced Air Gesture, a smart little implementation which allows certain features to be controlled using basic hand movements above the device. Now, thanks to the great minds over at XDA-Developers, this kind of thing can be performed on a number of devices. Air Swiper is the name, and although, at this early stage, it’s by no means without its flaws, it’s definitely worth giving a shot.

Of course, the Galaxy S4 isn’t the only device to take advantage of the mod cons available in today’s smartphones. Google and Motorola’s new joint effort – the Moto X smartphone – has also demonstrated compatibility, and if you’re intrigued by these developments but do not wish to pony up for a new smartphone, Air Swiper may well have you covered.
Compatible with Android 4.0 and above, Air Swiper takes advantage of your device’s proximity sensor to let you perform actions by hovering your hand, and although testing on a number of ROMs have yielded decidedly mixed results, I suspect the inquisitive minds of many of you Android users will no doubt prompt you to test whether your device is game.
Although many wouldn’t see the necessity of air gesture-based control, it’s especially handy for those situations where your digits are just too greasy, muddy, or otherwise dirty enough to prompt you to question whether you’d want your gleaming gadget to be tarnished with grime.
With Air Swiper, gestures are currently rather limited, offering basic abilities like unlocking and locking, switching between silent and loud modes, opening up your messages and such, but with further development, we can see this one being very promising indeed.
If you’re interested, you can check out the full details on the official thread over on XDA, and the Google Play link for Air Swiper can be found below.
Make sure to check out our Android Apps gallery to explore more apps for your Android device.

The LG G2, also known as the LG Optimus G2, is one of the more anticipated smartphones coming out in the second half of 2013. So far the rumors are plentiful but not much has been set in stone yet. This may have changed as LG recently sent out a press release for a full HD smartphone panel. Given that the LG G2 is the next big thing coming out of LG, it’s not a giant leap in logic to guess that this state of the art HD smartphone panel is for LG’s next state of the art smartphone.
Here is everything about the panel as per the press release:
  • It is a “state-of-the-art 5.2-inch panel.”
  • The screen is 2.2mm thin.
  • It has a 2.3mm bezel.
  • Uses LG Display’s One Glass Solution. According to LG, “Dual Flexible Printed Circuits, superior to a single circuit, have been inserted between the panel and touch film, reducing the number of lines on the panel by more than 30 percent.“
  • 1080×1920 Full HD resolution.
  • LG makes it a point to tell everyone about the brightness. Apparently, Intertek has confirmed that this screen is capable of performing just fine in “strong outdoor sunlight” the photo at the bottom shows LG accepting a certificate from Intertek to this affect.

It’s hard to get overly excited about a display but LG seems to have put enough info into this display for it to actually be a little exciting. As you can see from the pictures above and below, this screen is ridiculously thin, bright, and colorful. Of course, only time will tell if it looks this good in a smartphone as it does in these photographs. LG also claims that the thinness of this display will also help improve grip. Again, though, these are things we won’t know for sure until this bad boy is released on a smartphone.
The most important part is that this hasn’t been 100% confirmed as the screen for the LG G2. It might as well be, but LG hasn’t directly come out and said that this will be on their LG G2 behemoth. Rumors state that the screen will be between 5 and 5.5 inches and be 1080p. This screen satisfies all that criteria. Also, as this screen has an official press release and the rumored unveil for the LG G2 is less than a month away on August 7th, there’s no reason to believe it won’t be prepared to be inserted into the G2′s body. To read the press release for yourself, we’ve put it in below.

While Google has yet to introduce Android 4.3, Korean manufacturer LG has listed it as powering the LG Optimus L7 II Dual. Originally it was thought that Android 4.2 would be followed up by Android 5.0, aka Key Lime Pie. But apparently some Android handset manufacturers had asked Google to hold off on releasing Android 5.0 until they had a chance to update currently available models to Android 4.2. Google obliged and Android 4.3 was developed as a stop-gap measure. This way, Android phones already on the market wouldn't be consider a full point behind in build. Those models sporting Android 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 would be within the same 4.x family as models using Android 4.3 instead of having to be compared to Android 5.0 powered models.
LG's product page shows the LG Optimus L7 II Dual with an 8MP camera, dual SIM slots, and a dual-core 1GHz processor. And yes, it shows that Android 4.3 is installed. Assuming that it isn't a typo, we could be seeing the last of the Jelly Bean builds finally making its way to the marketplace.

New Screenshots of Plants VS Zombies 2

From those new screenshots, we can see that new roles and new scenes including Ancient Egypt, Pirate Seas and Wild West will be added. Well, I'm a fan of Plants VS Zombie really, expect that so much. But anyway, Plants VS Zombies 2 will hit the iOS first, later the other platforms.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active has appeared in multiple forms, in red and in grey with AT&T’s logo slapped on the back. The handset is not going to be lacking in colors at all, as the device could come in teal as well.

This information comes from an image popular leaker @evleaks put up.  The image only shows the side of the device, so there's no way to tell if there's any carrier markings like a previous picture revealed. That also means that we're not sure if the teal version could be coming to AT&T or some other carrier, as some mobile operators have exclusivity on certain colors.
As with all leaks, there's no way to tell if this image is real or not. So before we hear official confirmation from Samsung, it would be wise to take this with a grain of salt.
When will we see the device? Well, Samsung has an event in London scheduled for June 20 where they will most likely unveil the Galaxy S4 Active. However, that hasn't been officially confirmed. We should see the Galaxy S4 Active's brother, the Galaxy S4 Zoom, at the event too.

Although many have been swift to point out that, aesthetically at least, the Galaxy S4 isn’t as much of a bump from its predecessor as many expected it to be, in terms of new hardware and software, Samsung has really outdone itself. The processors are the strongest on the market, the camera is markedly improved, and the display is just gorgeous; that’s before you even get started on the multitude of new "S" features Sammy has bundled into the bargain. If you’re still languishing on your Galaxy S3 but wish to enjoy some of the new software improvements, a newly-leaked Android 4.2.2 ROM does exactly that. More details can be found after the break!
It’s a regular occurrence in the smartphone industry that when a new device is released, older models can often be left out in the cold. Often, this is because the vendor wishes to coerce consumers into grabbing the newer device, which although frustrating, is perhaps understandable. Sometimes, it’s simply because those antiquated handsets simply don’t harness the power to manage any of the new features, but with some variants of the Galaxy S III packing a quad-core processor, that simply is not the case here.
Besides, Samsung has a relatively good track record when it comes to looking out for those loyal owners of previously-released devices, and if you’re currently wielding a Galaxy S3, many of those intriguing new features of the S4 are soon to be heading your way.
As indicated by a new Android 4.2.2 ROM leak for the Galaxy S3, an OTA should be forthcoming, but if you want to go ahead and get flashing right now, well, you can! A leaked ROM for the GT-i9300 on Android 4.2.2 brings most of those Galaxy S4 features to your handset.

From lock screen widgets and new display modes, to Driving Mode and the enhanced S Voice, the news of this leaked release should be more than exciting to you S3 users out there. Obviously, some of the S4′s marquee features such as Air View are not included, since they are reliant upon the new flagship’s hardware, but nevertheless, this is worth checking out if you’re okay with flashing leaked, possibly unfinished firmware.
For flashing this leaked firmware, you will need to use Odin, which is already included in the package, put your phone in download mode, and install it from there on.

Too many flagship Android phones out there, and Pocket now picked the Samsung S4 and HTC one to fight Apple iPhone 5 and Nokia 808 pureview[Altough it's more than a year old now, but with 41mega pixels big lens makes it still competitive], and now let's have a look which phone gets the best camera:
First things first: we have used automatic settings on all phones (and special scene modes where it was the case). The Nokia 808 PureView was in either five-, or eight-megapixel PureView mode (to try and match the image size of the other contenders) and we have not used lossless zoom while recording video, to keep the fight as fair as possible. On the same note, the Nokia 808 PureView isn’t capable of capturing HDR pictures out of the box.
conditions: no light, forced flash, indoors
conditions: normal light, no flash, indoors
conditions: HDR, outdoors
Note: Nokia 808 PureView doesn’t do HDR
conditions: HDR, outdoors
Note: Nokia 808 PureView doesn’t do HDR
conditions: automatic, no flash, outdoors
conditions: automatic, no flash, outdoors
Note: The iPhone 5 is deliberately missing from the video comparison above as we’re planning a special Samsung Galaxy S 4 vs Apple iPhone 5 all-around shootout.

A couple of new reports offer new details about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 3 smartphone but also mention a device never seen before in similar rumors, the Galaxy S4 Mega.
Galaxy Note 3
Sam Mobile published a picture (see below) that has been allegedly taken with the Galaxy Note 3. The image has apparently been posted on the forum of a Polish website called SmartFan. Naturally, the information can’t be confirmed at this time, as we’re only looking at details available from EXIF data, and such info can be tampered with.
Assuming it’s real, the image appears to have been taken with a GT-N7200 device running firmware version N7200XXUAMEB. The Galaxy Note 2 has model number GT-N7100, while the Galaxy Note has model number GT-N7000, so it makes sense to assume this GT-N7200 is the third handset in the series.
According to the EXIF data, the device has a 13-megapixel sensor and an aperture of f/2.2, matching the characteristics of the Galaxy S4 main shooter. The Galaxy Note 3 could share the same camera with the Galaxy S4, but it’s too early to have it everything confirmed.
The handset is expected to be unveiled at IFA 2013 in Germany in early September.
Galaxy S4 Mega
The Galaxy S4 is rumored to have plenty of brothers including the Galayx S4 Mini, the Galaxy S4 Zoom and the Galaxy S4 Active, but it looks like another member of this expanding family may have been spotted.
Called the Galaxy S4 Mega, this particular model has been seen in Samsung’s recently updated WatchOn application. As you can see in the screenshots below WatchON has been updated with “added support for the upcoming S4 Mega, S4 mini and S4 Active.” In fact, these product names are mention right on the app's page in the Google Play Store:
watchon-galaxy-s4-mega-2
From the looks of it, the Galaxy S4 mini and Galaxy S4 Active we mentioned before also get confirmed, but the Galaxy S4 Mega is a totally new product name.
Considering that the Mega is a new subfamily of Galaxy smartphones (currently there are two models in it, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and the Galaxy Mega 5.8), where would a Galaxy S4 Mega fit? Is the device a bigger Galaxy S4 Mega? What purpose would it serve?
